The Implementation Guide

Implement Finch Connect Set up Finch Connect, our embedded authorization flow. This is how your users grant Finch access to their employment systems — getting this right is foundational to everything else. Test Validate your integration end-to-end before touching production data. Finch’s sandbox lets you test against a normalized data model that reflects real provider behavior — so you don’t need to test against individual providers to build confidence. For end-to-end flow testing, provider sandboxes are available for a limited set of providers. Build Backend Application Configure your server-side integration — handling tokens, webhooks, and data storage. This is where most of the core engineering work happens. Make Finch API Calls A reference for making effective API calls across Finch’s product surfaces. Covers pagination, rate limits, and working with the data you care about. Integration Preparation Fine-tune how your integration behaves in production — configure data access controls and manage your integrations so your users have a seamless experience from day one. Deploy and Manage Guidance for operating your integration in production — monitoring connections, handling reauthentication, and supporting your end users.

Working with an Implementation Engineer

Customers on Pro and Premier plans are assigned a dedicated Implementation Engineer. Your IE serves as your primary technical point of contact throughout the implementation — providing prescriptive guidance to get you to a healthy, production-ready integration as quickly as possible. Your IE will lead a structured technical implementation series with your engineering team, answer technical questions, and provide timely advice to prevent blockers and keep your implementation on schedule. Where issues require escalation, your IE will drive urgency internally to keep things moving. They also work with your sales, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure they have the enablement resources they need to support the Finch integration. Already a customer? Your IE will walk you through the Customer Portal and your implementation projects during your Kickoff Call. Once your Kickoff Call is scheduled, you’ll have access to your personalized milestones and tasks in the Customer portal.

Starter plan customers

Starter plan customers don’t work with a dedicated Implementation Engineer but have access to two self-guided projects in the Tasks tab of the Customer Portal: Starter Plan Implementation Checklist and GTM Implementation Milestones & Checklist. These projects walk you through the same key steps at your own pace. If you don’t see these projects in your portal, email implementation-team@tryfinch.com to get access.
